Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Fans can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
